FROM DENNY

>Woke for The Wicked

On today’s podcast, we discussed the new movie out in theaters, Wicked. It’s based on a Broadway play related to the relationship between the two witches from The Wizard of Oz film before the story of Dorothy. The musical has been known for its successful run on Broadway. The new movie, starring Ariana Grande, seems to bridge a connection to the written works of Oz by Frank L. Baum and LGBTQ themes. The entire media tour for this film has been odd to say the least…

II: WHITE HOUSE 2024

Transition era

TRUMP 2024

President-elect Donald Trump begins his administration with public goodwill, as most Americans feel optimistic about his second presidency.

His transition efforts and Cabinet picks have received broad approval. Amid concerns about inflation, many Americans believe his administration will lower food and grocery prices, aligning with the expectations of his voters during the election.

According to the report, nearly six-in-ten Americans approve of how President Trump has handled his job performance as president-elect.

Republicans are more excited about Trump's presidency now than in 2016, while Democrats report feeling more fearful but also more exhausted and less motivated to oppose him.

ALSO: Trump is expected to sign an executive order on his first day in office banning transgender individuals from military service, potentially leading to the medical discharge of those currently serving. Trump implemented a similar ban in his first term, citing mounting medical costs and disruption. Read More Here.

Case dismissed

The LEFT 2024

The judge overseeing Donald Trump’s election interference case dismissed it after special counsel Jack Smith requested dismissal due to a DOJ policy barring prosecution of a sitting president.

U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan dismissed the charges without prejudice, allowing for a possible but unlikely future prosecution. In a brief opinion, she agreed with Smith that presidential immunity applies only while Trump is in office and found the dismissal to be in the public interest.

The report states that it’s highly unlikely any prosecutor will revive the charges against Trump, as the statute of limitations will expire when he leaves office in four years.

ALSO: Vice President Kamala Harris has kept a low profile since the election loss to President-elect Trump, vacationing in Hawaii with second gentleman Doug Emhoff. Following her failed campaign and ongoing Senate duties, her weeklong trip has raised questions, especially as DNC staff face uncertainty and surprise layoffs. Read More Here.

III: BORDERLESS

Mayor of Crime

Denver Mayor Mike Johnston says he is willing to face jail over his opposition to President-elect Trump’s mass deportation plan but has retracted his comparison to a “Tiananmen Square moment.”

Johnston previously warned of potential police confrontations if federal immigration officials proceed with large-scale deportations, stating: “More than us having DPD stationed at the county line to keep them out, you would have 50,000 Denverites there. It’s like the Tiananmen Square moment with the rose and the gun, right? You’d have every one of those Highland moms who came out for the migrants. And you do not want to mess with them.”

Johnston has retracted his "Tiananmen Square" remark, clarifying he hopes to avoid such outcomes. However, he remained firm in his opposition to Trump's deportation plans, stating he’s willing to go to jail to fight them, except in cases involving violent criminals in the state of Colorado.

ALSO: A heartbreaking video shows a 2-year-old migrant girl from El Salvador, found at the US border clutching a note with a name and phone number, telling authorities she was searching for her parents. The child was among over 200 migrants, including 60 unaccompanied minors, detained in Maverick County, Texas. Read More Here.
